Meet the HY4RES team from the 9 partners working on the project.
Aonghus is a civil engineering, and his main line of research focuses on the development of fluids-based technology in the energy and environment fields.
Chetanaya Sawhney
PhD research student in the School of Engineering at Trinity College Dublin
Chetanya’s research focuses on life cycle Sustainability assessment of hybrid renewable energy system.
John is a civil and environmental engineer with a focus on life cycle and circular design of hybrid energy systems to achieve low-carbon and resource-efficient outcomes.
Naufal’s research focuses on fish-friendly pump-as-turbine development.
Bhavya has a master’s degree in business analytics, and she is supporting the development of data analytics and AI models for renewable energy forecasting.
Daniele is a PhD civil engineer working on the fish-friendly turbine selection, lab upgrade and tests to be carried out at TCD, as well as turbine performance characterization. He is also contributing to the definition of the technical specifications, design and build of the agriculture pilot plant.
Miguel is a PhD civil engineer with skills in research within the hydropower sector, water and energy efficiency in the drinking water and irrigation industries, data analytics and Al. In HY4RES, he is responsible for project management, development of data analytic and AI models for forecasting. Miguel also is an expert in technical support, in design and construction of the hydraulic pilot plant in agriculture, and supports the design floating PV installation.
By bringing over 35 years experience in energy and water related fields, including multiple renewable energy technologies, Mike has a support role in HY4RES on project management and reviewing key communications from Easy Hydro.
Nadia has a higher diploma in general management and production management. In HY4RES, she has a support role in administrative tasks & financial tracking.
Rita has a master’s degree in renewable energy. She is supporting lab upgrade and tests to be carried out at TCD, and she provides technical support, and assistance with electric and electronic component. Rita is also contributing to the design of the floating PV installation and to the construction of the agriculture pilot plant.
Jorge’s main line of research focuses on the fields of water and energy nexus within water distribution networks.
Within HY4RES project, Juan is applying his previous research which focused on optimizing the water-food-energy nexus in irrigated areas.
Maaike is working on the research of using and optimising solar energy in large irrigation systems.
Mariana is a civil engineer researching AI applied to the optimal management of renewable energy in hydraulic systems. In HY4RES, she is supporting the development of data analytics and AI models for energy demand forecasting.
Clara García

Clara is responsible for justifying projects.
Aitor Fernández-Jiménez
R&D researcher at the University of Oviedo
Aitor is a PhD civil engineer, and his main line of research focuses on the design and development of new renewable energy systems based on hydropower and water cycle management.
Eduardo Álvarez has a PhD in industrial engineering, with professional experience acquired at university, in technology centres and companies. His main line of research focuses on renewable energy generation, specially in microgeneration systems.
Joaquín Fernández Francos
Professor of hydraulic engineering at the University of Oviedo
Joaquín’s main field of research is based on the study of fluid motion in any environment, with extensive experience in computational fluid dynamics.
Anthony is specialising in social and societal impact assessments.
Jeans-Christophe is specialising in the assessment of socio-economic and environmental impacts at territorial level.
Laure Martin-Poisson has a PhD in economics and she is a specialist in public policy assessment.
Ignac is a mechanical engineer, with experience in research and construction in the hydroelectric sector. In HY4RES, he is project manager, working in the development of mathematical models to estimate hybrid production. Ignac is also developing cross-flow water wheel for low and ultra-low heads, and he is designing the construction project for the energy communities pilot sites.
Marcos Tavares
Technical engineer at IG Energy
Marcos has experience in programming industrial automatons, industrial maintenance and metalworking. In HY4RES, Marco is responsible for equipment manufacture and testing.
